Pantry

The Bible says in James 2:14-17:

What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, “Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

The Mesa Church of Christ is dedicated to knowing God’s word and doing what it says. We have created a mission statement “Reaching Up – Reaching Out – Reaching In” to remind each church member of our commitment to God and to His work. As part of our Reaching Out ministries, we provide a monthly food pantry to help those in our community that have clothing and food needs. This ministry is provided by means of the donations of the members and friends of the church.

Who receives help?

Anyone in need of food. A person/family may come once per month for a meal bag.

What is included?

Each meal bag typically contains the following items: Toilet Paper, Laundry Detergent, Peanut Butter, Macaroni and Cheese, Pasta Sauce, Noodles, Tomato Sauce, Rice, Cereal or Oatmeal, Beans, and Canned Fruit, Vegetables and Meats Additionally, during the open pantry day additional food items and clothing can be selected by each person/family. Our guests also have the opportunity to pray with one of the volunteers, to set up a Bible study and/or to take home a Bible.

When are we open?

Open pantry day is held the 2nd Saturday of the month from 9:30 AM until noon. At their first pantry day, our guests will receive a punch card good for 6 months. Once they have a punch card they can get their following meal bags during an open pantry day or during normal church office hours (Mon-Thu 8:00am-4:30pm, Fri 8:00am-4:00pm).

What happens once the punch card is full?

Once our guests have completed their first punch card, we ask that they serve at an open pantry day to receive another punch card for an additional 6 months. Once this second punch card is completed, we ask that they attend a church service with us to receive a third punch card.
