In Luke 7:36–50, Simon saw a woman defined by her sinful past, while Jesus saw a person transformed by grace. Our history may explain us, but it does not have the right to define us. The Gospel never gives our worst chapter naming rights over the rest of our story. Like the woman who poured out her costly perfume, we should stop waiting for others to understand our calling and worship, and we should serve and live boldly in response to the grace we could never earn or repay. Even when others misunderstand our transformation, we can move forward with confidence because the most important person in the room—Jesus—sees us correctly.

This next message in the Under Construction series teaches us that mercy is not just a moment but a mindset—an identity we grow into as children of God. Jesus calls us to live so formed by God’s compassion that our reactions, judgments, and forgiveness reflect His heart rather than what others “deserve.” True forgiveness means releasing the right to collect a debt and trusting God with the outcome, even while keeping wisdom and boundaries in place. When we understand the mercy God has shown us, judgment loses its edge, bitterness loses its grip, and the cross becomes heavier than any grudge.

GOD HAS PURPOSE FOR YOUR LIFE, WALK IN IT. DON'T EVER LET SATAN TELL YOU OTHERWISE.

Your failure does not have to define who you are because it can be the very thing that strengthens you to be the best version of you.

Even your greatest failure can become the foundation of your greatest purpose, as God’s grace transforms your brokenness into a source of strength for others.
